Субъективным ушным шумом называют слуховые ощущения, возникающие у человека при отсутствии внешнего источника звука. Проводится большое количество исследований, посвященных этой проблеме. Представлен обзор современных исследований о механизмах генерации, этиологии и патогенезе субъективного ушного шума. Представлены классификации для практического ведения пациентов. Дан обзор медикаментозных и физических методов терапии и реабилитации пациентов, страдающих тиннитусом. В обзор включены наиболее клинически достоверные и распространенные методы лечения и реабилитации.
