BACKGROUND
The face profile is an important diagnostic criterion in assessing changes of the facial skeleton. One’s has sex, age and regional characteristics.
OBJECTIVE
The aim of the study — to determine the morphometric parameters of the face (hard and soft tissues framework) according to the head teleroentgenography to establish the characteristic face profile features of the young men and women in the Omsk city.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
Teleroentgenograms of the heads of girls (39) and boys (39) in lateral projection were examined. The analysis of the soft tissue image was carried out using the online service «Mave Cloud». The following parameters were measured: face convex angle (gl-sn-pg), nasofrontal angle (∠gl-n2-pr), nose angle (∠n2-pr-sn), dorsum of nose length (n2-pr), nose root length (pr-sn), nose height (n2-sn), soft tissue thickness between points «N» and «n1», «Me» and «me», «Gn and gn», «Pg and pg»”, Ulc and E-line, LLc and E-line. Statistical analysis of the data was performed using the Statistica 6.0 software.
RESULTS
The values of 9 parameters out of 12 studied in boys and girls had differences, while the linear dimensions prevailed in boys (n2-pr, pr-sn, n2-sn, N-n1, Me-me, Gn-gn, Pg-pg). The greatest difference in soft tissue thickness was found in the area of the root of the nose (N-n1). The face convex angle (∠gl-sn-pg) had no gender differences and did not differ from the «norm» value presented in the literature.
CONCLUSION
Indicators of the thickness of soft tissues in the area of the root of the nose (N-n1) and chin (Me-me, Gn-gn, Pg-pg) have differences characteristic of boys and girls. Regional peculiarities of median values of the length of the nasal dorsum, root and height of the nose, as well as the nasofrontal angle were revealed in the representatives of the young people.
