OBJECTIVE

To demonstrate the importance of diagnosis and preoperative planning of surgical intervention for prevention of postoperative nasal breathing deterioration in primary aesthetic correction of external nose.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

We analyzed 258 CT scans of patients with congenital nasal deformity. Patients were surveyed before and 12—74 months after surgery using the SCHNOS questionnaire to assess satisfaction with nasal breathing.

RESULTS

Dissatisfaction with nasal breathing significantly decreased after primary aesthetic correction of external nose.

CONCLUSION

Nasal septum and conchae correction decrease dissatisfaction with nasal breathing in patients undergoing primary aesthetic correction of external nose.
